Weary

Cate has been struggling a little bit today and yesterday. Her levels are not where we want them. They have had to up her vent setttings, so the vent is helping her breathe more than it was. She hasn't gone #2 in the past couple days and she has gained a little more weight than they want her to for her size. They are concerned that she could have an infection in the bowels. She is a little bloated right now. They will check her white blood cell count either tonight or tomorrow morning. Please pray that she does not have an infection. This is something we were hoping would not happen. Also, pray that her levels improve. We need her to fight and get better. Thank you everyone for your kind emails and posts on this blog. We love reading them. This is definitely the hardest thing either of us has ever gone through. Your prayers mean everything to us.

I really feel for you guys. These rollercoaster rides are not fun. Trust me when I say that you two will walk away better, stronger people because of all of this. You will appreciate Cate sooo much and she will know how much she is loved.

We will continue to pray hard for your little girl. And for you two! xoxoxo

The NICU experience is such a roller coaster. Everyone tells you that, but it is such a tough thing for a parent to experience. As I told you before, our twins were born at 29 weeks, after an incredibly difficult pregnancy. One of the twins had no complications and came home in a month, while the other one had pretty much every complication and spent many months in the NICU. Believe me when I say that after spending time in 3 different NICUs and seeing so many tiny babies, your little one is doing so well. They thought my little guy had an intestinal infection too (it turned out to be a food allergy) and I remember how scary all of that was for us. I am so sorry for the many worries that you have and that were not able to take your little girl home with you. The one thing that got me through it all was that my little guys would never remember these times and I tried to look at the NICU time (time before 40 weeks gestation) as "bonus time" with my little guys. I will continue to keep your family in my prayers. Thanks for all the updates on your little miracle. She will be so loved and appreciated!! Please let me know if there is ever anything that we can do.

Big hugs and prayers,

Duke, Jayne and Cate,

You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I can only imagine how difficult this is for you both, but it sounds like Cate is doing well. I'm sure Chad and I will run into you at the hospital sometime in the next two weeks, if you need anything until then let me know.

Duke, Jayne and Cate,
You are all in my prayers and heart. God has a plan and we don't know what is for you all but he will never let you down. As I type this message I pray that our awesome God will be with all of you and that he will show evidence of his continued wonders and bring about this beautiful daugther so that she may be a blessing to many people for years to come. I am here anytime you need anything. God Bless
